Colour fastness describes colour retention under external exposure. Washing, light, rubbing and perspiration tests assess quality for the intended use.
Evaluation by test type
Light fastness evaluates colour retention under light exposure, while washing fastness assesses change under specified washing conditions. Rubbing is tested dry and wet, and perspiration is tested under acidic and alkaline conditions.
Quality by fabric and dyestuff
GREENWEAR’s quality records are organised by fabric code, composition, dyestuff and testing institution. Selecting a material opens the grades for its tested dyestuff specimens.
Quality requirements by end use
Relevant fastness requirements reflect the conditions faced by products such as indoor clothing and outdoor apparel. Fibre, construction, shade and care methods guide the response to customer specifications.
