Gallnut
Gall
The galls of Quercus infectoria, an oak species, have traditionally been used in Asia for dyes, inks and leather softening, as well as in medicine for centuries. Gallnuts contain approximately 50–70% tannins, among the highest naturally occurring concentrations, and have become an important material in dermatological medicine.
